New wallpaper...

I love wallpapers and for a long time I've been wanting to wallpaper my girly room upstairs...

But my husband kept saying "no"... putting up wallpaper will backfire and decrease our home's value.

And it is true... your specific taste can be a deterrent to potential buyers

Too girly, too pink, to shabby, too old, too much stuff...

But really, who's living here now... some future unknown buyers or me? That's how I feel.

And why do we have to live our life afraid of living it surrounded with what we love, or like to see done, just because someone else might not like it, or alter the value of our home? That, to me, is living by someone else's rules...

And that's not fair, right? ;)

So I found some gorgeous rose wallpaper the other day and brought some home... I had never wallpapered a wall in my entire life, so I proceeded with some caution, and a bit of trepidation ;)

Oh but only one wall, because I didn't know how it was going to turn out...;)

I absolutely love it!

May you have a lovely weekend, everyone!

  1. You are absolutely right, why do we always have to do what we think the new owners will want...whats that all about...I have always loved wallpaper and the instant transformation it makes, it's the biggest bang for your buck you will ever find...I don't even mind doing it myself, it gets easier and easier...loved your post...the house should be you...

  7. I think it's beautiful. I miss wallpaper, and I'm tired of everyone saying "Neutral, neutral, neutral". Once I lived in a house that had lovely yellow roses on a bedroom wall.

  8. Good for you! When and if you sell they won't like everything anyway. They will want to put their own stamp on things. I say go for what YOU like and do it and enjoy!

  10. Cielo, I couln't agree with you more. Why let what other people may or may not like dictate the way we want our homes to look and feel. It is your living space so I think it should look and feel the way your heart tells you it should. I have the same problem with my husband. I wanted to add wallpaper in our master bathroom and he has talked me out of it but I think I will now ask him to re-consider. I am so glad that you followed your heart. It looks amazing.

  11. Your taste is exquisite, you've picked the perfect wallpaper to suit your personality and your home. And I agree, you do live in that house right now so you have to follow your taste. You need to feel like "home".

P.S. Excellent photos, I love them all.

  12. I agree, Cielo! Live for the moment and enjoy life NOW! Do what brings joy and peace to your heart, and fill your home with things that make your soul sing! I've been thinking of wallpapering some walls over here, too. Just haven't decided which ones yet.... lol Your bedroom is just beautiful with that pretty wall. It truly adds so much warmth and personality! :)

  13. It looks Fabulous and I'm glad you went for it. I absolutely agree that I Live my Life and Decorate my Home to please myself and make our Family Comfortable... regardless of what anyone else would think or feel about it. If and when you ever decide you will Sell, you can then Stage the House to please a broader base of potential Buyers.
