Barthroom Beauty Snapper Party with Shelia

Why do you blog? Why do we all blog? I often question myself with these profound philosophical thoughts. Really, don’t you think it’s important to know what we blog for? At least, it would help us achieve the purpose, or aim of our blogging. Some people blog to make money online, some others blog to claim fame or to get to hit the 10 millionth visitors mark on their blog. Does that make them a better person? A richer person in spirit? Does their happiness expand in line with this new acquired fame? What some bloggers sometimes fail to see is that amidst the fame and recognition, they lose the fun of blogging and the true expression of the heart. There are expectations, even an image of perfection in the eyes of the readers. Whilst a blogger’s achievements are glorified, like a double edged sword…. I blog for the pure sheer liberating pleasure of expressing myself. Blogging for me is a way of celebrating life. Life is a gift, and we ought to celebrate that gift every day, with reverence and pure joy. Besides, isn’t it good to just be able to be your good old foolish funny silly melancholic shallow love-intoxicated, giddy far-sighted and so on wonderful you, without being unhindered? Freedom is the state of being unhindered. And that’s what blogging means to me...
I am happy that I can be my old passionate childish self here….
And be able to use my invisible wings whenever I want... zoom, zap, zing! I can go everywhere, as light as air… shifting, turning, blazing like fire..
I am glad I can let free my inner fantasist without feeling ashamed, or foolish
And be a fairy and a witch all together, even on the same day if I just want to…
And play silly games in front of the bathroom mirror when no one is looking so that later the whole world can come and look… and even dare show my ugly and wrinkly gardener's hands with no shame at all whatsoever…
And pretend I’m Sofia Loren
And truly believe I’m the Most High Diva of the Bathroom ever! (Hope the real Most High Diva Shelia is not listening!) Well, dear ones, this has been my contribution to our dear Shelia’s “Bathroom Beauty Snapper” party! What fun this has been !

Magic

It's raining again, and here they come...

A tic-tic-tic, three rain fairies I see...
A-ramble ‘cross the garden
A-laughing-dancing on the stones
I see them ‘midst yellow narcissus and happy daffodils...

Can you see them too? O'er there! Behind the bare grape vine...

They’re funny, they’re small, they’re green with butterfly wings....
The rain blurs my vision... now I see them now I don’t...

They hide, they play, they leap and dance...
See how they dip and dive? Is a dream is a game!
I don’t know what’s in the rain –magic?— for every time that rains I shout and sing
and fairies come out to play...
They'll give you a golden ring and clasp around your neck a bell...
Is magic this I know!
There’s magic when it rains!
Do you love rain?

In the porch

The spirit of spring is lighting up my garden space daily with new life and wonder. What new delightful surprises will show up this year? A self-seeded perennial, maybe? A group of beautiful flowers to charm me when I least expect it? Ah, the joy that comes to light when sunny days appear! Are you anything like me? Do you feel it? That magical sense of warmth, the clear blue skies, a moment of peace, a sacred calm and stillness so precious you would think it can be hold within your palms...

In another two or three weeks the lobelia will be spilling over the edge of the pot, quite fetchingly. The Bacopa too. Bacopa is the perfect flowering plant if you ask me. Its sweet little flowers bloom quite profusely and it comes in shades of white, lavender and pale pink. The wonderful thing about this time of the year is that the garden is constantly changing. We can never be bored when our surroundings transform from minute to minute and day to day.

I'm always so happy here! In my back porch! Get into your backyard and see what’s new and wonderful! And don't forget to appreciate the continually varying forms and foliage in action...

It's another grey, cold wet morning...

Delights

I've been busy... cleaning my nest, and dusting and cooking and doing some furniture painting, pruning and embellishing the garden. Big words alright! One might think that I'm talking about work here.

Not really!... A multitude of small delights constitutes happiness (Charles Baudelaire)

HAPPY WEEKEND, EVERY ONE!

At dusk

Have you heard about Moses and the burning bush? That is a story in the Bible from the Book of Exodus of a certain bush that appeared to be on fire... sort of something like this one here, in my back yard.
No, I’m not Moses, nor do I live in Palestine, but at sunset, right at that moment when both celestial bodies, sun and moon, meet for just the slightest moment, you will believe that bushes are burning and that fairies and angels have descended the skies on the wings of dusk…

Day and night greet one another wearing a new cloak of light, a sort of mysterious light formed by shadows of crepuscular rays. Sunset's brush strokes stretch across the canvas of air creating an ephemeral painting of ever changing hues. Is pure magic… the April palest sun dances with the first shadows as the new moon enters the fading pink horizon…. shadows, and light—a game of love, like two lovers, like a sweet song of love.

Soon a fully swollen moon will be rising above the mountains in the far distance wearing a muted coat of white as bushes and trees, birch, flowering Pear and Maple tree rest under this swirl of clouds with a visiting yellow-orange light.

Vesper Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, Towhee, Tree Swallow, Barn Swallow had returned to their nest... bluish crown and nape of mourning dove in her nest look at me with curious eyes... I say my good nights and wait for her enchanting woo-oo-oo-oo call. Why she’s chosen to build her nest upon the thorns of a climbing rose, is a mystery to me... a lesson to be learned, perhaps?

With the fading dusk comes the cooling calm of day, sinking into the surreal; a moment of passive pause, but it is time now to go inside... to wait for another tomorrow and the miracle of sunrise. Light will have a different quality to it in the morning, romantics and poets all over the world often talk about the magic hour, meaning sunrise, but I believe there are two magic hours in a day, sunrise and sunset, and each of the magic hours has its own type of light. Of course, that would have to be a "magical" light.
