Autumn rains are falling; refreshing the garden, while serene fall colors fills the landscape with magical hues. And in the house, apple cinnamon delights and pumpkin breads in the oven. Warm quilts and cozy comforters have been dug out of the back of closets, and my favorite "Mrs. Santa's" red footed pajama is ready for cold winter nights... but before I start writing (and whining) about my life in Snowland, I should brag a little more about my roses... why, roses are almost done for the year and I should take all the hope my spirit can muster, for soon I shall live without them for far too long a time.. so I hope you won't mind ;)
Bonica and Queen Elizabeth roses...
Love unopened blooms...
Chicago Peace roses in my favorite ever color...
Roses are never a disappointment... some of my bushes are miraculously still holding their blooms, while others are filled with late buds that will remain unopened; frozen in time...
Fresh, wilting, fading, dried.. yet still so beautiful to me.
I'm always changing things up and decorating,
so last week, I filled my favorite room of the house with the last of the roses...
roses from my own garden... how lovely!
I sure going to miss my roses. There is nothing quite like
cutting beautiful, fragrant roses from your own garden.
Cielo

Hi Cielo,
ReplyDeleteI am finally back from my blogging break. I have missed your beautiful, sweet posts and your lovely face. I hope you have a wonderful, blessed Sunday- xo Diana
Cielo, I love roses too...and like you, I am not looking forward to old cold barren winter. Enjoy the last lingering scents. Smiles, Susie
ReplyDeletei adore roses, they are so beautiful
ReplyDeleteCielo, your roses are beautiful. Our temps dipped into the low 30's overnight; and I see the most beautiful roses blooming out back! I know they are nearing their end for this season...but, they are lovely to see this late in October.
ReplyDeleteOh Cielo, your roses are just beautiful and your vignettes so sweet. I agree with you about missing the garden and the roses all winter long. I'm not a fan of snow either, so let's just start counting the days til spring tomorrow, ok? lol

I am so glad that you're getting some late-season blooms - knowing how much these treasures mean to you. Winter is such a necessary season for so many flowers and the appearance of buds in spring a sign of renewed life and joy! Stay warm, cozy and keep dreaming of your roses.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kathy
Lucious and oh so girly. I miss growing roses since moving to the woodlands.Too much shade. I can only enjoy roses from the florist.sigh.
ReplyDeleteI always marvel at how roses in the right condition can continue growing well into the first frost.
A lovely visit today.
