A day of prayer

Our homes are our refuge and a sanctuary from the troubled world we live in, it is the place where we feel the safest and the object for which we work and labor. We work hard for everything we have in our life, we collect and gather things to embellish our home to our heart's content, and if you’re like me, the thought of home would give you strength throughout your busy day and help you bear the daily burdens. In part, that's why we blog too! Can you now imagine what those people who have lost everything to violent weather in our country must be going through?—not to mention the loss of lives… The devastation, the hopelessness, the fear, the anxiety… my heart goes out to them. After watching the evening news today, I felt compelled to do something I normally won't do here--bring God into your thoughts. Thus, I'm bringing my frugal thoughts to a standstill to lift up my heart to the Lord in prayer on behalf of the people and survivors affected by the catastrophe that befell Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Joplin, Mo.

Would you not care to join me? Praying online? Yes, just leave your comment if you feel impressed to do so, and it will be considered part of this virtual prayer chain to bring hope and strength for the homeless and those who’d lost loved ones… Imagine a prayer made out of people from all over the world! If you’re here, please don’t leave without adding yours.

Ps: You don’t have to leave a written prayer if you don’t feel comfortable doing so. The sincere comment has the same power.

  1. Dear God, I join my heart with my sister, Cielo, in lifting up all of the ones affected by these tornadoes. So many have lost everything, including loved ones. I ask you would hold Your children in Your mighty arms and let them feel Your love. If some do not know Your Son as their Savior, I pray their hearts will open up and ask Him in. Protect them and give them a peace that can only come from you. You say in Your Word, where two or more are gathered in Your precious name - You're there!
Thank you that You hear our prayers and You care.
In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen

  7. Oh... what a precious and giving post. I went online to www.redcross.com and gave a donation to the Red Cross for the people and hope others will do the same. I have also prayed for everyone too. And to answer your request (I am Catholic and believe in Saints), here it is:
"God, please help all of the people in their needs. And: Good St. Anthony, please come around... Something has been LOST (the people who were affected, their hope and faith at this time) and must be found." (St. Anthony is the patron saint of Lost Things.)
Thank you and may the good Lord bless YOU, Cielo.
    Best,
    Gloria

  9. Dear Gracious Lord,
Thanks you for the comfort you bring to us. Please be ever specially present in the hearts and lives of those hurt by these storms. Their pain has to be so raw, and everywhere they turn, they are met with those who also are aching for the loss of someone, something...

I ask your blessings upon Cielo, who stands with her candle to invite us all to come to the source of love and comfort.

    Amen.

  10. I'm not very good with words when it comes to saying prayers but please count me in. I watched coverage last night and it was heart wrenching, gut wrenching and just tore my heart in pieces:( A family looking for the body of their 12 year old, another family whose 15 month old was killed, 5 year old is hospitalized and 3 year old is missing. So much pain and devastation. Thank you for posting this.

    Dear Cielo,
I live in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro, and we know the sadness of loosing homes and families... This year has been so difficult for us too. Near our city, up in the mountains, we had a a terrible storm that had left pain and sorrow. Many lives dissapeared in hours of a great rain... It's was a hard time for us too. Our gentle people of the mountains are trying now to restore their lives and life goes on with the help of our God... I think that "hope" and "faith" are the best words to heal all lives.
I sincerely hope that a time of tenderness comes soon for the american people that are suffering now... God bless all of you!
My brazilian hug for your tender heart,Cielo...

  24. Father,
I have seen your love and compassion in my life and know you care deeply for all these dear folks affected by this severe weather. I ask that you send comfort, strength and peace to them - the kind that only can come from you. I am thankful for those who have gone to help - I pray you keep them safe as they search and as they begin to clean up. Restore, Dear Lord, lift up bowed heads, comfort broken hearts, strengthen the weary - I am so thankful to know there is a God that cares for all our needs - Thank you Lord - Praise you for what you have done and what you will do. Thank you and bless dear Cielo for bringing this to her heart and for following through.
    In Jesus' Name,
    Amen

  26. Prayers can move mountains. That is the first thing I do when I awake each day and when I go to sleep. I pray for so many people. Even those I do not know. I pray that God helps all those affected by the tornadoes and floods. And for all those who need God in their lives. We live in such a crazy world these days so we need to keep the faith and always hold on to hope. Thank you for asking for prayers. It feels good to pray for others.
    Have a wonderful day,

  27. My dear friends, I’m so utterly amazed at all of your prayers... I have been so blessed reading each of them--my cup is filled... I truly believe in the power of prayer and unity, and I sincerely thank you all with all my heart for the inspiration you bring to this world... and particularly to me.

Father, oh Father... here we are—sisters from all over the world united by one faith before You; our eyes fixed upon You; our hearts resting in your everlasting promises. Cover us Father, we ask that You be with those suffering from the effects of catastrophe losses, let your hand be held out to them as was your hand to a sinking Peter, and let their hearts take refuge in your promise: “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”.

Father, may your lovely and constant presence guide us and sustain us through our days, as we cast our burden upon You, the burden of our care, the burden of our fear, the burden of our needs.... and it will be enough for us.

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me” John 14:1

  28. Dear Lord, I join my sisters today to ask your healing hand to touch those who lost home, loved ones, or property in the tornadoes and floods. Please touch their hearts and give them courage, peace, and hope for the future. I ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.

  29. Dear God,
We praise you for your kind and loving ways. We are so thankful that we have been blessed so much, and since your word says that all good gifts come from you, we praise you. Please God bring comfort and peace to those affected by the devastating tornadoes. I have seen the destruction first hand here in Alabama, and I know that your hand prevented the tornado from hitting the University of Alabama's camping which could have potentially killed thousands of students. For saving those lives, God I thank you. Please help those who lost their homes rebuild and be strong for one another. Thank you, God, for giving us the blessing to help those in need. Thank-you for encouraging Cielo to post this prayer chain. Bless her!
In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

  30. Dear Lord, please hear our prayers for all of those precious souls who have suffered loss of life, homes and those who have had injuries. We pray that you comfort them in their time of great need. We pray that hope and the love of you has given them the strength to go on. Thank you God for hearing our cries for help and the comfort only you can give in these terrible losses. We praise you for our many blessings and the love of family and friends. They sustain us in our time of need but without your love and our total belief in you, we would be lost. Thank you God, for all that you do for us every minute and every day of our lives. We know you are listening to our prayers dear Lord. We trust in you to answer our prayers in your own way.

We pray in Jesus name, Amen

Cielo, you are a blessing and I have missed you so much. My promise is to reconnect to you through your very special blog.
    Love, Jeanne
