A girly girl...

"I’m very fond of men. I think they are wonderful creatures.
I love them dearly. But I don’t want to look like one.
When women gave up their long skirts, they made a grave error…"
~Tasha Tudor

  2. I SOOOOOOO agree, sugar! I love being a girl/woman. There are no other creatures like us on this earth and we are very special to God! Only we can give birth, chick, and that's truly a blessing.

  4. You know, I am a huge classic movie addict. If it's from the 30's to the 50's, I'm gonna love it. And as I watch those movies, I am always struck at how beautifully dressed the women were (not so much the early 30's). When I see the gorgeous Grace Kelly in her beautiful dresses, I wonder why women threw that kind of wardrobe out the window? I would FAR prefer to dress like she did than to wear the ripped jeans or sweatpants, T-shirts, and sneakers that women so often wear today.

    Have a blessed day,
Patti (Fill My Cup with Beauty)

  7. I have adored Tasha for many years and am lucky enough to have two books featuring her garden and her crafts. I take them out to look through when life seems to be rushing along a little too fast for me. She is still such an inspiration and her wisdom lives on...

  8. Love your beautiful blog! I like the new header! I have two of Tasha's books and just love them. Someone wanted to know if she is still alive-- I believe she is, but she is in poor health last I heard.

Oh Tasha had her world in purrrfect order. I adored her way of life because it reminded me so much of the way my OMA in Germany lived.

  10. The quote by Tasha is so true. I love wearing my skirts and dressing up to go out. Mine don't see duty in the garden though. :-)

  15. Definitely a true quote, and Tasha said it right although I do like my capris! I do like wearing skirts and flowing dresses more in the summer as to me it feels cooler.
Hope you have a great weekend!

  17. I love your shoes! I think women who wear fancy shoes are so womanish!! Sometimes I want to be one. But I am just a flower child at heart. Sandals for me, or barefeet. So I will enjoy you in your grown up shoes!

more then that I love being a woman. Wearing girly jewels, smelling like a princess, and strutting like I am on a catwalk ~ yep, I most definetly love being a woman.

  21. I love being a woman, feminine ... in both slacks & dresses ... I like at my AGE (?) to still be thought 20 years younger than I am & still turn a head ... I am a girly-girl woman, you betcha!

I apologize for being absent ... I am having a terrible time staying in the groove, sweet friend.

    Have a lovely & safe 4th ~

  23. What an interesting post. I came here through one of your readers - Virginia - that submitted a table on the post above. Then I saw the photos of the fishnets and long skirt and I was intrigued. Loved this. I seldom write about clothes but this was inspiring. The photos are beautiful, the music fitting, and the quote completed the post. Nicely done. I agree with Tasha. I wouldn't want to wear a long skirt all of the time but it is fun to pull one on once in awhile and revel in the femininity of it. I love being a girly girl and I sometimes feel like I am in a club of one.
    Thanks for sharing
