Party... party... It's a "Victorian Tea Party"! Part II

I still remember the first time I read “Alice in Wonderland”. Funny, how one same thing can convey such an array of different feelings in different people... what did you feel? What was Alice in Wonderland to you?
For me it was sort of forget Alice, forget Wonderland! I was immediately transported into a wonderful magical world all of my own...
I’m spinning spinning....

...traveling in time, out in the cosmos... leaving behind the clearing with the Mad Hatter's tea party... behind is the Red Queen's garden gate...

spinning spinning

Where I'm I?
I’m peering through a small passage, not much larger than a rat-hole (usually that's my window - hehehe) into the loveliest garden I’d ever seen... Ah, how I’ve longed to get out of that dark hall (I call it “winter”), and be here, just here, under the precious flowering pear tree...

...and be one with birds, and wander about among beds of bright roses and cool green grass.
The sun has return to the land, and my little world is once again bathed in warm sunshine. Soon summer will be rolling over the hills like a colorful blanket... I can almost hear the roses singing in the balmy morning air, and the rolling clouds above me here, light and fluffy.

My nose twitches, rabbit like (magic, not allergies), as I realize that my dreams of warm weather and a lovely garden have finally come a reality... I’m listening to what speaks in the blood:

Greeting the morning in the garden, bare feet in cool grass, pink lemonade in sparkling glasses... and the list goes on... What’s the song in your heart? I’d love to hear about it! But before you tell me, I have prepared some tea in anticipation to our big day....

Wouldn't you stay? Teapot is on, the cups are waiting, favorite chairs anticipating, no matter what I have to do, my friend there's always time for you.

While we sip tea we can talk about our upcoming "Victorian Tea Party". Are you working on your teacup vignette yet? If you haven’t, get your camera ready and snap snap snap.... be romantic, be creative, be YOU. Here are some pictures I'd taken of my teacups that can serve you as samples of what you can do...

You have until Sunday, May 9 to send me your favorite picture. READ ALL ABOUT IT HERE! Please copy and paste our logo on your blog so others would know... and remember, you can also join us if you don't have a blog, let me know, and we will include you too!!!
All my fairies and leprechauns are working extra hours in the preparation of our party and are so excited with the party buzz afloat around here... I can hardly wait to see what lovely collection we would come up with...

Prepare a feast for the eyes and heart with simplicity and gratitude. I'd love to hear about your tea time plans for the party! What will you be serving? My email: cielosky47@yahoo.com

Show Off Your Cottage Monday

Today the House in the roses is honored to present Lissette’s home (isn’t that a pretty name?), and I’m inviting you to come along with me for an abbreviated tour of her lovely home… but before we walk over to Lissette’s house, let me tell you a little bit about her… She is a daughter, a wife, a mom of two beautiful boys; she is sensitive, caring, loving, and very beautiful inside and outside… Oh, and can I tell you something else? She is my little sister and my best friend! Lissette doesn't have a blog, but she comes here all the time and reads all of your comments with me, so please direct your sweet compliments to her... she has a new digital camera and has been practicing with it daily, just so she can share some pictures with you. So, now that we're ready... go ahead and knock on her door - she knows that we are coming...
Thank you Lise!... I love your home and I LOVE YOU.

Magic

It's raining again, and here they come...

A tic-tic-tic, three rain fairies I see...

A-ramble ‘cross the garden

A-laughing-dancing on the stones

I see them ‘midst yellow narcissus and happy daffodils...

Can you see them too? O'er there! Behind the bare grape vine...

They’re funny, they’re small, they’re green with butterfly wings....

The rain blurs my vision... now I see them now I don’t...

They hide, they play, they leap and dance...

See how they dip and dive? Is a dream is a game!

I don’t know what’s in the rain –magic?— for every time that rains I shout and sing

and fairies come out to play...

They'll give you a golden ring and clasp around your neck a bell...

Is magic this I know!

There’s magic when it rains!

Do you love rain?

SHOW OFF YOUR COTTAGE MONDAY

It was broad daylight when she awoke and sat up in bed, staring confusedly at the window through which a flood of cheery sunshine was pouring and outside of which something white and feathery waved across glimpses of blue sky...
For a moment she could not remember where she was. First came a delightful thrill, as something very pleasant... Indeed, it was morning and, yes, it was a cherry-tree in full bloom outside of her window. With a bound she was out of bed and across the floor... She pushed up the sash--it went up stiffly and creakily, as if it hadn't been opened for a long time, which was the case; and it stuck so tight that nothing was needed to hold it up.
Anne dropped on her knees and gazed out into the April morning, her eyes glistening with delight. Oh, wasn't it beautiful? Wasn't it a lovely place? Suppose she wasn't really going to stay here! She would imagine she was. There was scope for imagination here...
Ok, no, I'm not Ann of Green Gables, and this is not Prince Edward Island...

But it almost feels like it, for spring has sprung in my garden! Besides, the imaginative Anne Shirley has lived in my heart for such long long time (ever since I can remember), that truly, sometimes I'm quite sure she visits my garden... indeed, spring has sprung in my garden. How do I know; I just saw the daffodils blooming... and the red and yellow tulips and the blooming flowering pear tree...

This is just the beginning of the season, and yet there is already something about spring in the air that brings everything to life in a mysterious and enchanting way. I have planted many perennial… like old friends they will return year after year, growing in size and stature until they reach their full maturity, and I have also planted many summer bulbs... As the sun warms the dull land, I am drawn to tip-toe the garden, barefooted in morning dewy grass, and watch the transformation take place. The warmer it gets, the louder the whispers of Shasta daisies and periwinkles vines...
The air is filled with songs and the call of courtship. The songs keep coming from every direction… twittering fills the tops of the pine and trees, chickadees and juncos hardly pause as they flit about in a springtime frenzy being musical, territorial, amorous, I see them carrying all sort of things with them in the making of their nests...
My spirit soars with joy and anticipation as I hear spring’s gentle march through my garden, and so, I will sit here and wait... and wait, for the arrival of the roses...
Alas, that's what I'm celebrating: the arrival of spring to my garden... What are you celebrating about your home and life today? I love to hear about it! Add your link below, just please be sure to: 1. Copy and paste our little logo on your blog.
