Where you there, by the window, lost in thoughts when it snowed this morning? I know… it wasn’t supposed to snow (at least not here), but it did… big round flowers of snowflakes that melted even as they touch the ground. I had hoped for sunshine, to be able to do some work in the garden, but the great sun decided to turn his face away, and the earth (it seems), went down into a vale of grief…
Inside the house it was a different story, it felt warm and cozy with walls the color of Belgium Waffles and sofas covered with bunches of little roses. The air was sweet with the scents of candles and a sense of peace drove me close to the fire, where I cozied up, upon heap of soft pillows and soon drifted off to sleep...
Not soon thereafter, I found myself in my perfect dreamland, wandering the secret places of my garden, and beyond it, the thick woods behind our house, where the stark lines of winter were disappearing into the fuzziness of spring...
Was I dreaming? I couldn't really tell, but as I continued walking among majestic trees of ancient, gathering bits of rose petals, bird feathers and polished stones flecked with fairy dust that later I would weave into necklaces and bracelets and beautiful flower bands, I knew... Indeed, I was dreaming... it was all a dream.
Could it be, perhaps, that my fascination with the woods comes from sensing in their darkness, in their inhuman uniqueness suggestions of our precarious existence, or perhaps is the mysteries the forest hides within itself, or the trees standing undaunted, permanently providing shelter and visions of trapped souls? I don't know, all I know is that later, in the afternoon, the sun came up and I spend hours sorting through my treasures, mesmerized by the play of gleaming light as it drifted and spun, prism-like, throughout the window…

I was home alone for a while, listening to silence, drinking tiny sips of herb tea…
I cannot begin to tell you how much I treasure those special moments of solitude… the birds were chirping and fluttering in bare tree branches, and even the garden spirit came for a short visit...

I heard the garden fairies called... the force of their incantations so strong that I could not help but to obey it. And then there I was, caught in the magic of the moment, cleaning the ivy path, pulling dry leaves, cool breezes whispering “greetings!”…. bare trees vibrated and hummed in anticipation of the earth rebirth, and I breathed with the Mother, I breathed with the earth. Again, one with the earth….
Alas, that's what I'm celebrating: The return of the sun!
What are you celebrating today about your home, garden, family, life? If you feel happy enough and would like to join me celebrating whatever blessings bestowed to you, just add your link!

I added the link to your blog. Sorry! I think this cold weather has frozen my brain. I have decided to visit, maybe dwell a while in a fantasy world of alternate reality where I have my beautiful home once again and the spring rains welcome the warm sun..... In other words, goodbye reality.....
You've made me want to go outside!!! BUT, I've dug so much snow already, I don't have any desire to dig anymore and the snow is still thick on the ground. We've had a hawk in our backyard this winter. We live in the heart of our town, so it is unusual to have a hawk. I love him so. I don't really know if it is a male, but he is so majestic, I like to think that he is a sentinel, watching over my backyard, sitting atop the old swingset that is no longer used, but holds many flowering vines in the summer.
Hoping for warmer days, so that I can explore the back yard and maybe make friends with my guest sentinel.
hugs to you
ANDREA
Still nothing to show for my cottage except a ton of wallpaper shavings all over the dining room floor! I love coming over and seeing your beautiful and serene pictures though!
